You should be able to find out in the deeds of your property which fences are yours. If you have mislaid your deeds then your solicitors who managed your purchase should be able to help or alternatively you can try the Land Registry.
Each council will set regulations for fencing, so it is worth checking with your council to see what these are. Usually you would have permission to build a fence out the front up to 1m high and out the back up to 2m high.
The timber used in fencing panels will have been treated against rot and decay. It is recommended that you retreat your fencing regularly to keep it protected against the elements and in good condition. I will be able to recommend treatment products for your specific fencing when installing it.
